I etched each portrait on little steel pieces. The final work resembled small decaying icons. I photographed the etched portraits in different stages of the work. By repeating the work (etching the same figures over and over again and photographing them) each of the women got to have different faces and representations.
The photographs were enlarged in large scale (much bigger than the proportions of the human face). Individual details were blurred, external layers were peeled off, a fact that led to the creation of archetypal feminine images.
