Would go downtown Jerusalem Flooded with unique light Expecting to return home Without witnessing violence Bring children into the world Assuming they would bloom Survive their parents And not fall in vain Travel from place to place Concerned only with timetables And not shots at the windows Or unfamiliar lurking figures Venture forth to explore Further destinations not fearing By the time one arrives They might no longer be there But that was in the last millenium Barely a year-and-a-half ago February 2002 |
