RIFKAH GOLDBERG
NOSTALGIA FOR THE OLD MILLENIUM

Would go downtown Jerusalem
Flooded with unique light
Expecting to return home
Without witnessing violence

Bring children into the world
Assuming they would bloom
Survive their parents
And not fall in vain

Travel from place to place
Concerned only with timetables
And not shots at the windows
Or unfamiliar lurking figures

Venture forth to explore
Further destinations not fearing
By the time one arrives
They might no longer be there

But that was in the last millenium
Barely a year-and-a-half ago
